Day 129 - Wednesday 22nd July 2020

Location: London, UK  COVID-19 / Coronavirus Outbreak Lockdown My tweet about watching Hamilton and re-creating the west end at home went a bit viral yesterday which was quite exciting!  It was re-tweeted by @HamiltonMusical to their 1million followers and it was quite fun watching the little "like" hearts clock up. In case you want to see the tweet, it's below!  (this is likely the highlight of my week...) Miranda Colmans @mirandacolmans Level 1: Recreating the west end/broadway at home Curtain up 7:30 Time for @HamiltonMusical on @disneyplus Ice-cream at the interval I LOVED IT SO MUCH ALL OVER AGAIN! Day 70 - Sunday 24th May 2020

Location: London, UK COVID-19 / Coronavirus Outbreak Lockdown I'm kind of done with the news at this point. I check in every now and then and Twitter is good for the highlights, but there isn't really any "news" is there?  It's just sad figures, thousands of people - friends and relations who have died or it's people flouting the rules who seem to think they are above contagion. What concerns me is that there must be other stuff happening.  People are still working, albeit in their pyjamas at home.  There IS other news and it's not being reported.  What's going on under the radar that when we get through this, we will discover has happened?  I felt the same about Brexit - at least half of news broadcasts for 3 years were about bloody Brexit.  What else was occurring? I know that's a bit conspiracy theorist but I stand by it.

Day 14 - Sunday 29th March 2020

Location: London, UK COVID-19 / Coronavirus Outbreak Lockdown Friday 27th of March was World Theatre Day.  Probably one of the most ironic timings of a day to celebrate something that's ever occurred - when most theatres across the globe are closed. As we come towards the end of our first week of proper lockdown, things in the world of theatre, film and tv still seem positive however.  There is lots of talk of the future and for when production all starts up again in real life.  There are still casting breakdowns going out - mainly with the dates of auditions and/or production TBC and advise that self-tapes are going to be utilised. There are lots of constructive initiatives from casting directors, agents and theatres designed to keep everyone connected and creative.  The industry & it's participants are being wonderfully  resilient  and supportive. Brighton Fringe has been cancelled and Edinburgh is still hanging in the balance - news thi...

Day 3 - Wednesday 18th March 2020

Location: London, UK COVID-19 / Coronavirus Outbreak Work All forthcoming social or work engagements from my diary have been removed.  It's a blank slate apart from reminders to give the cat her flea and worm medicine which she will be most pleased about. As of Tuesday night, all my freelance work has been cancelled.  This isn't exactly surprising as all my work (acting or work in between) involves: 1. lots of other people 2. public buildings that hold lots of people 3. travelling with other people unnecessarily to places with lots of people I'm genuinely concerned for my many friends and colleagues who will have no income for the foreseeable future.  I don't have a solution except to suggest that if you have kids who might need child care as the schools are closing and can afford to pay someone, consider asking any of your friends who are potentially going to be struggling. The acting industry is, as ever, being creative and resilient - casting...
